Hope is a Gentle Flicker
What if the bravest thing a parent can do is just keep loving?

What happens when your child is taught to hate you?
When Sienna falls in love, she embraces her partner’s young daughters, Adele and Nina, with an open heart. But her dream of a happy, blended family is fragile from the start. Unseen by them, a rift is being slowly, methodically carved. As the girls they love turn against them, Sienna and her husband face an impossible choice:
hold on – or let go?
Told from the stepmother's unique and often unheard point of view, this memoir is a heart-wrenching account of an unrecognised grief: mourning living children. It chronicles the agony of loving two daughters who are within reach, yet made untouchable by a force that is stealing them from within.
But Hope Is A Gentle Flicker is not merely a story of loss. It is an act of resistance. It is a tribute to a love that refuses to be extinguished even in the face of rejection, and a beacon for anyone who has endured the pain of parental alienation - one that offers validation, understanding and the defiant courage to hope again.
What Readers Say
A Remarkable Book
So much of this sad story mirrors my own experiences, it was like looking in a mirror. The book is written exceptionally well and leads you gently through the truama of losing a child to parental alienation. You can clearly see the time, thought and dedication that has been put into this book. It delicately explores how parental alienation impacts families, the mistakes learnt along the way and strategies to move forward.
Love, Loss and Hope
A touching and deeply insightful book, written with great sensitivity and care. The writing is gentle yet powerful, guiding the reader through difficult emotions while also offering hope, understanding, and ways to move forward. Even for readers who may not have lived this experience directly, the book opens your eyes to a reality that many families silently endure. Beautifully written and meaningful, this is a book that deserves to be read and shared.
Heartbreaking but Hopeful
A very personal and honest open diary almost to two children from a heartbroken mother who had been alienated from the children by her husbands ex wife. Heartbreaking, soul searching and overall, hopeful. Absolutely bawled all the way through this book.
Read It in One Day
Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. So much of it felt heartbreakingly familiar. The author captures not only the devastation of losing children emotionally while they are still physically present in the world, but also the confusion, grief and helplessness experienced by the whole family around them. What I appreciated most was that despite recognising the behaviours of the alienating parent, the real focus always returns to the children.
If my story spoke to you - if it made you feel seen in the invisible heartbreak of parental alienation- can you take a moment to leave an honest review?
Your words could be the sign another targeted parent is searching for right now.

"Healing
begins when
we share
our
truth."

I'm very excited to share an exclusive excerpt
from my book: Chapter 1.
Here, alone with my thoughts, I consider the many shapes a family can take, each one bringing its unique consequences. But my mind always narrows to one specific point: my own. It always leads back to the moment this entire journey began.

" When parents pull in different directions,
a child's heart is the one that breaks."
